VISITING THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT
The European Parliament administration
has a Visits and Seminars Division, which is responsible for organising
visits to our places of work - Brussels, where most of our work is done,
in Committees and Political Groupings, and Strasbourg, where we meet in
Plenary session 12 times per year.
Visits by groups or individuals may be
organised by contacting the Visits Service directly. MEPs can sponsor a
limited number of Group visits each year, although demand usually
outstrips the available places.
During EP sessions, the maximum number
of visitors in a group is 40, and participants must be at least 14 years
old.
For more detailed information, you can
consult the European Parliament's own website at the following link;
http://www.europarl.eu.int/abc/visit/visit_en.htm
Alternatively, E-mail enquiries may be sent to;
vissem@europarl.eu.int
VISITS IN BRUSSELS
Group visits last approximately one to
three hours and include a general introduction, given by a European
Parliament official, to what the EP is and how it works, possibly followed
by a discussion with one or more MEPs, insofar as parliamentary business
so allows. When the Parliament is in session, visitors will be able to
observe MEPs' debates 'live'.
For individuals, audio-guided visits to
the hemicycle of the European Parliament take place from Mondays to
Thursdays at 10.00h and 15.00h and on Fridays at 10.00h only. There are no
visits on official holidays. Reservations are not required.
VISITS IN STRASBOURG
During Plenary sessions
Visits last three hours and include a
general introduction, given by a European Parliament official, to what the
EP is and how it works, possibly followed by a discussion with a MEP, if
parliamentary business so permits, and observation of MEPs' debates 'live'
from the Visitors' Gallery.
Please note that there is a very
substantial demand for visits during Strasbourg sessions, and it is
therefore unlikely that requests from groups other than those sponsored by
a MEP will be able to be accommodated.
