SNP Member of
the European Parliament, Mr Ian Hudghton, today [Monday] welcomed pupils
from Blairgowrie High School to the European Parliament in Strasbourg .
The Blairgowrie pupils are in Strasbourg and the surrounding area as part
of a modern languages study visit, and took the opportunity to pay a visit
to the Parliament.
Speaking
afterwards, Mr Hudghton said:
"I am always
pleased to welcome my constituents to both Strasbourg
and Brussels, whether they be over for pleasure or as part
of a study trip. It is both an opportunity for me to hear what people's
impressions of the European Parliament are and for my constituents to see
at first hand how the Parliament works.
"Decisions
made in Europe have an impact on many aspects of our everyday lives and I
welcome the opportunity to provide greater access to the Parliament itself
and the democratic process which takes place here.
"The
Blairgowrie pupils were very well-informed and interested in European
issues. They had a question and answer session with MEPs from a variety
of political backgrounds which was enthusiastically approached by everyone
involved.
"The pupils
also had the chance to watch the European Parliament in action in the
chamber itself and I have no doubt they were fascinated by the
proceedings." |
