Rights and Obligations of Rail Passengers
Ian Hudghton (Verts/ALE
), -
I supported this report on the conciliation agreement on
regulation of the rights and obligations of rail passengers. This was
originally intended to apply only to passengers on international
journeys, and I am pleased that our views have been heeded, and that the
rules will now include passengers on domestic journeys too.
From 2009, a reasonable set of basic rights will apply,
including the right to accessible transport for people with reduced
mobility. In addition, I welcome the fact that a scheme of compensation
in the event of delays will be introduced. |
